200,000 Hours of Digital Programming

June 10, 2013

The C-SPAN Video Library is approaching 200,000 hours of digital programming. This makes the C-SPAN Video Library the largest, accessible political collection in the world. Every hour – all 200,000 of them – are searchable, clippable, and shareable. No other collection can boast of such accessibility. No other network makes the entirety of its broadcast day available in digital form immediately after it is telecast. In addition, C-SPAN has reached back to its earliest programming and indexed and digitized this programming.

Explore the video library find programming of the last week that you missed or programming of the last quarter century that you never saw. You can use people, or keyword, or text searching to find what public officials have said in many public forums. It has been called a treasure trove of politics.

  • I really enjoy and depend upon your video library.I wanted to ask C-Span programmers if C-Span would very much consider either by going through The Library of Congress and/or The National Archives to obtain and download to the video library many old vintage newsreels & footage coverage of past Congressional Committee’s hearings, other political and old government video’s.I feel it is important as a part of our history, that C-Span video library users may have the option of viewing many nostalgic vintage video-before and long before television was used.Thank you. Please consider this for history buff’s,students and many important obvious reasons.
